Heads up — what gets imported and what doesn't
The QBO Employee API supports basic info: name, SSN, address, phone, email, hire date, birth date.
Pay rate, W-4 / tax setup, direct deposit info, and workers comp are
NOT importable via API —
Intuit keeps those behind their UI for security reasons. After import you'll still need to finish the
payroll setup per employee in QBO Payroll, but the basic record will already exist.
